The
group has recently formed and given a highly successful debut concert in
St Peter’s Church, Parwich, near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. You can
listen to selected audio clips and view some of the inaugural concert on
this site and we will be posting new material over the coming months. You
will see from the individual biographical notes that the combined musical
experience of Eric, Jill and Martin embraces many avenues, and this depth
is evident in the recorded performances. The trio is indebted to Martin
Compton for the audio and visual production at the Parwich concert.
A short note about our name; Sir Robert de Parys is said
to have lived in the twelfth century and is thought to have founded a
school and hospital in Bedford. Unsurprisingly, the history is not terribly
clear, but, modern-day De Parys Avenue is a wide thoroughfare in Bedford
and home to Bedford School where we all hold music appointments. It is
one of Britain’s finest independent schools with a huge music tradition…
Quite simply, we wanted to enjoy making music with
a slightly different combination of instruments, and we thought, “what
better than a flute, violin and guitar trio”!
